OINP Restarts Draws, Sends Out More Than 1,100 Invitations in Five Rounds

Ontario resumed its provincial immigration activity on December 10 by issuing 1,133 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) across five separate draws, marking the first round of invitations since October 9.

Invitations were issued under three Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) Employer Job Offer streams:

  • Foreign Worker Stream
  • International Student Stream
  • In-Demand Skills Stream

The draws targeted early childhood educators, priority healthcare professionals, and candidates eligible for the Regional Economic Development through Immigration (REDI) pilot. The REDI pilot, which functions within the OINP’s job-offer pathways, is designed to support labour market growth in smaller communities.

All draws were limited to candidates currently living in Canada with an active Expression of Interest (EOI) profile.

For the REDI pilot, Ontario focused on communities within the Census Divisions of Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville, aiming to encourage population and economic stability in these regions.

Below is a full breakdown of the draws held on December 10.

Major Changes Proposed for the OINP

Ontario has proposed a significant overhaul of its selection system. If implemented, the changes will take place in two phases:

Phase 1:

  • Merge the three Employer Job Offer streams into one unified stream.

Phase 2:

  • Replace all existing streams with three new ones:
  • Priority Healthcare Stream
  • Exceptional Talent Stream
  • Entrepreneur Stream

These changes are still under discussion and no official implementation date has been confirmed.
