First Express Entry education draw in four months sees lower CRS cut-off in Canada
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has once again invited candidates through the Express Entry system, this time focusing on the education category.
In the latest round, a total of 2,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) were issued. To be eligible, candidates required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 462 and needed to have created their Express Entry profile before 4:24 a.m. UTC on July 9, 2025.

This draw is especially significant as it marks only the second education-focused draw in Express Entry’s history. Compared with the first one held on May 1, the current draw invited more candidates and lowered the CRS requirement. The earlier draw offered 1,000 ITAs with a CRS cut-off of 479, while today’s draw saw 2,500 ITAs issued with a cut-off score of 462.
It also happens to be the fifth Express Entry draw of September. This month has already seen:
- A Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on September 15
- A French-language category draw with 4,500 ITAs on September 4
- A Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draw on September 3
So far in 2025, IRCC has distributed 59,797 ITAs across various categories. Most invitations have gone to candidates through PNP-specific draws, while others were issued under CEC, French-language, and category-based occupation streams.
With today’s update, candidates aiming for Canadian immigration through the education category have a better chance than before, thanks to the lower CRS requirement and increased number of invitations.
