IRCC Held Latest All-Program Express Entry Draw on 26 September

IRCC held latest all-program Express Entry draw on 26 September in which 3000 candidates were invited.

504 was the cut-off CRS score to receive ITA. Two Express Entry draws held earlier this month, first one invited 3200 candidates on September 19 in an all-program draw and second one was the first-ever category-based draw which invited 1000 candidates on the following day for transport occupation.

What is a Category-Based Selection?

Draws for Express Entry candidates were to be held by IRCC based on one specific attribute rather than their overall Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, as announced in May this year.

Immigration Minister possess the authority to select Express Entry candidates who are likely to help Canada meet its goal to strengthen the economy and promote the French language outside of Quebec as the introduction of categories was expected to take place this year following a change to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) in 2022.

For newcomers with strong French language abilities and in-demand occupations, six new categories were created. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) professions, Transport, Healthcare, Trades, Agriculture, and Agri-Food are the five occupation-based categories.

Except for the category of agriculture and agri food, draws were held by the IRCC in each of these categories since the first category-based draw for healthcare workers on June 28. 6,900 ITAs, which were the highest number of ITAs were issued to candidates who showcased strong French-speaking abilities. If candidates wish to immigrate to Canada through category-based selection, they are required to be in the Express Entry pool and meet a minimum score. For latest news regarding Express Entry, Provincial Nominee Program and other immigration pathways of Canada, stay updated with the Canada Immigration News.
