Latest Manitoba provincial draw sees invitations for skilled workers

Manitoba has carried out its second immigration draw of August under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), extending invitations to skilled workers looking to settle in the province.

This latest selection round, which is also the 17th draw of the year, focused on candidates with strong work experience, competitive scores, and participation in targeted recruitment efforts.

Details of the draw
The draw was held on August 21 through the Skilled Worker Stream, which operates under two categories – Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas. A total of 77 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) were issued. Out of these, 18 invitations were sent to candidates with an active Express Entry profile and a valid job seeker validation code.

The lowest score among invited candidates in Expression of Interest (EOI) Draw #252 was 612.

Only individuals who had been directly invited by the MPNP through strategic recruitment initiatives were considered for this round.

Invitations by recruitment initiative

  • Employer Services: 6
  • Francophone Community: 29
  • Regional Communities: 31
  • Ethnocultural Communities: 11

Why some eligible candidates may have missed out
The program clarified that certain candidates who met or exceeded the minimum score might not have received an invitation due to errors in their profiles. Common issues included:

  • Entering expired or invalid language test details.
  • Claiming participation in a strategic recruitment initiative without providing a valid invitation number.

Understanding Manitoba’s strategic recruitment initiatives
These initiatives are targeted measures designed to connect employers and communities with candidates who possess skills in high demand but limited supply within the province. By doing so, Manitoba ensures its long-term labour market needs are addressed while also providing pathways for foreign nationals to gain permanent residency.

Employers who wish to take part must meet specific requirements for their job vacancies and follow Manitoba’s recruitment process before submitting details of international candidates. On the other hand, candidates must meet criteria related to age, education, language proficiency, and work experience, in addition to fulfilling the conditions of the stream they are invited under.
