The Government of Yukon has announced an increase in its immigration allocation under the Yukon Nominee Program (YNP). The territory has received 67 additional nomination spaces for 2025, raising its total to 282. This comes after the federal government had initially reduced allocations to 215 following a 50% cut to Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) quotas nationwide.
According to the update released on August 21, 2025, Yukon now has 80 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) available for distribution in August. This figure accounts for the processing of carry-over applications, ITAs already issued, and 13 withdrawn applications.
Earlier this year, the YNP shifted to an Expression of Interest (EOI) system, which opened on March 31 and closed on April 22. More than 500 submissions were received from employers across the territory. Nearly 400 of these aligned with Yukon’s immigration priorities, including applicants who:
As of January 22, 2025, a total of 54 carry-over applications from 2024 had been processed, leaving 161 spaces. Between May 23 and May 27, the YNP issued 153 ITAs, which included:
Thirteen ITAs were later withdrawn, leaving 80 available for distribution. Yukon has also reserved 10 nomination spaces specifically for healthcare professionals until September 20, 2025.
The YNP provides a pathway to permanent residence for foreign nationals with full-time, permanent job offers from eligible Yukon employers. The program operates four streams:
Applicants with TEER 4 or 5 job offers qualify under the Critical Impact Worker Stream, while those with TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 positions may apply through the Skilled Worker or Express Entry streams, provided they meet all requirements.
Employers selected from the EOI pool may nominate candidates through an Invitation to Apply. Approved applications require the employer, nominee, and the Government of Yukon to sign a Tri-Partite Agreement, after which the nominee can apply for permanent residence to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) within six months.
In addition, Yukon continues to operate the Yukon Business Nominee Program, offering a separate immigration pathway for entrepreneurs.
