Immigration Fees in Canada to Increase Soon
Canada has introduced higher fees for several immigration applications, with the new rates officially taking effect on December 1, 2025.
This update impacts two main areas:
- Inadmissibility-related applications
- International Experience Canada (IEC) work permit processing fees
Applicants who submitted and paid online before December 1 will not be affected. However, those who submitted paper applications may still be asked to pay the difference once their files are received by IRCC, due to processing delays.
Updated Inadmissibility Application Fees

These fees apply to applications related to returning to Canada after removal orders, temporary entry for inadmissible individuals, restoring expired status, and criminal rehabilitation.
IEC Work Permit Fee Increases
International Experience Canada allows eligible youth from partner countries to gain Canadian work experience through:
- Working Holiday
- Young Professionals
- International Co-op (Internship)
The processing fee for IEC work permits has increased as follows:

Participation continues to require an invitation from IRCC after entering the IEC candidate pool. The 2025 IEC season is now closed, and profiles may be submitted once the 2026 pools reopen.
If You Paid the Old Fee
For mailed applications submitted prior to the change:
- IRCC may request the difference amount
- Applicants must follow the payment instructions provided by IRCC
- Payments can be made through IRCC’s online payment system under “Make an additional payment or pay other fees”
