Newfoundland and Labrador has continued its steady immigration efforts by issuing 202 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in the most recent selection round. The invitations were sent out on August 29 through the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).
Out of the total invitations, 125 went to NLPNP applicants, while 77 were directed to candidates under the AIP.
The province’s Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM) has been conducting frequent draws. Here is the distribution of ITAs in the three latest rounds:
Date of Draw | Total ITAs | NLPNP | AIP |
July 29, 2025 | 150 | 100 | 50 |
August 13, 2025 | 231 | 180 | 51 |
August 29, 2025 | 202 | 125 | 77 |
Since May, the province has been holding two draws each month, with the majority of invitations going to candidates applying through the NLPNP. Specific program streams under NLPNP for these invitations were not disclosed.
To be considered under either the NLPNP or AIP, candidates must:
Selected applicants under the NLPNP are notified by email and must submit their provincial nomination application through the Immigration Accelerator portal.
For AIP applicants, designated employers receive the ITA notification along with a confirmation letter through the same portal. Employers then proceed to apply for endorsement of the candidate’s job offer.
Applicants living outside Canada (except those applying exclusively through the NLPNP) require an invite code from their employer before submitting an EOI.
For the current year, Newfoundland and Labrador’s allocation stands at 2,525 nomination spaces across the NLPNP and AIP.
Earlier this year, the province announced an expansion of its immigration capacity, allowing an additional 1,000 candidates to be nominated under the NLPNP. The AIP endorsement cap, however, remains fixed at 475 spaces.
The NLPNP has also transitioned to an Expression of Interest-based selection system, aligning with other Canadian provinces and creating a structured two-step intake process from candidate to applicant.
